The Northern Gateway CDC is Hiring an Interim Executive Director! (FILLED)

Maryland’s International Corridor Community Development Corporation dba The Northern Gateway CDC (NGCDC) is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to strengthen and revitalize the unincorporated neighborhoods of Adelphi, Avondale, Carole Highlands, Chillum, Hampshire Knolls, Langley Park, and Lewisdale. Our initiatives aim to increase the quality of life for residents and the economic potential of small businesses in our community.

The NGCDC is seeking an operationally focused Interim Executive Director (“IED”) on a part-time basis. The IED shall manage the planning and implementation of projects, develop and implement a fundraising strategy, and lead a strategic planning process until the full-time, permanent, Executive Director position is filled.

The Interim Executive Director shall be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, and capacity building and programs. The IED shall serve as the ultimate internal decision-maker on operational decisions (consulting with senior staff in thoughtful consideration of the institutional memory and knowledge they hold) and conferring with the Board on any decisions with larger policy implications for the NGCDC.

The Interim Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to support and facilitate effective oversight and direction setting.

Specific Priorities:

Server as the primary representative of the NGCDC in front of external and internal stakeholders, including funders, partners, collaborators, volunteers, staff, the board and advisory board.

  • Lead successful fundraising campaigns to support a permanent Executive Director and additional staff.

  • Build staff readiness and excitement to partner with the new management/leadership structure (e.g., a permanent Executive Director) and to retain staff. Facilitate relationship building between staff, the board and Advisory Board, Funders and other stakeholders in the community. • Closely monitor the budget, especially tracking and problem-solving revenue generation and expenditures. Ensure the maintenance of effective systems for service delivery through budget to actual reporting and the use of fiscal data as a management tool for decisions and timely financial reports to the Board.

  • Oversee grant management.

  • Work with staff and consultant(s), if any, to ensure that programmatic work and/or research is on schedule and in alignment with mission and Board priorities, and ensuring that staff, consultants, and volunteers are working well together.

  • Develop a preliminary dashboard (or other tool) to monitor NGCDC’s sustainability in terms of programs, revenue generation and finances, impact and customer service. Engage the Board and staff in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of NGCDC’s services and in business planning to identify program, financial, and infrastructure development goals and strategies.
